Travel Information

Thank you so much for committing to travel across the land to attend our wedding! Here is some information to help with your travel plans. We can’t wait to see you!

IMPORTANT:  There is NO CELL PHONE SERVICE at the wedding venue. We are organizing shuttles between the venue and the two hotels (see below).

Hotels

We have organized room blocks at a group rate at the two following hotels. Please visit the Accommodations page to book your room.

  1. TownePlace Suites San Jose Campbell; 700 E Campbell Ave Campbell, CA 95008
  2. Courtyard Marriott San Jose Campbell; 655 Creekside Way Campbell, CA 95008

Friday Night Welcome Drink

An optional welcome event will be held at Hapa’s Brewing Company (460 Lincoln Ave #90, San Jose, CA 95126) at 8PM the night before the wedding, Friday January 24th. You can drive, ride share, or take the light rail to the brewery. There’s plenty of parking in the back for those who choose to drive.

You can take the VTA light rail to Hapa’s from the hotels on the green line. The timetable on the website can be confusing because it only lists the biggest stops, and you have to click on the map to see all of the stop names. Here’s what you do:

  • Take the northbound green line of the light rail from either the Downtown Campbell Station (corner of Railway Ave and Orchard City Dr; closest station to the Towneplace Suites) -or- from Hamilton Station (corner of Creekside Way and Hamilton Ave; closest station to the Courtyard Marriott)
  • Get off at Race Station. Google maps might try to have you get off at San Jose Diridon Station – don’t listen to google, get off at Race.
  • Walk one block northeast past the apartment complex (parallel to the tracks) up to Lincoln Ave and you’ll see Hapa’s across the street.

The VTA light rail is $2.50 per ride (ticket machines at each stop take cash or credit; you can also use a Clipper card) and runs every 10-20 minutes around 8PM and every 30 minutes around 10PM.

Shuttles

We have organized shuttles to bring guests from each hotel up to the wedding location and back at the end of the festivities. If you are not staying at one of the hotels, you can still take either of the shuttles and then take an Uber/Lyft/Taxi to and from the hotel. There is NO CELL PHONE RECEPTION at the wedding venue, so if you want to use a rideshare app to get home, please plan on taking the shuttle.

Directions to Walden West

For those who prefer to drive themselves rather than take the shuttle, there is plenty of parking at Walden West. Your maps app should be able to find it, but you can also follow these directions:

From the hotels, take highway 17 south to highway 85 north and take the Saratoga Ave exit. Turn left on Saratoga Ave and continue straight when it turns into Big Basin Way (as you come into downtown Saratoga). Continue straight through the small downtown area, past Hakone Gardens, and just after Saratoga Springs, you will turn left on to Sanborn Road just before the bridge (follow sign for Sanborn Park). Continue on Sanborn Road for 0.9 miles and turn right at the sign for Walden West. Follow the narrow road up the hill for about a quarter mile. Turn right at the first fork when you go through the gate and then turn right again at the second fork. Follow signs for Walden West.

Flights

The closest airports to the hotels are:

  1. San Jose Mineta International Airport (SJC; 20 minute drive without traffic)
  2. San Francisco International Airport (SFO; 1 hour drive without traffic)
  3. Oakland International Airport (OAK; 1 hour drive without traffic).

The hotels above do not offer an airport shuttle service, but taxis and app based ride shares like Uber and Lyft are readily available at each airport, or you can book a shuttle service like SuperShuttle ahead of time.

Public transportation to and from the airport is possible, but limited and time consuming; we’d generally recommend against using it. From the San Jose airport, you can take the VTA Airport Flyer bus (#10 Eastbound) to the Metro/Airport light rail station, and then take the 902 VTA light rail south to Hamilton Station (for the Courtyard Marriott) or Downtown Campbell Station (for the TownePlace Suites). From the San Francisco airport, you would need to take a combination of BART (SFO to Millbrae), Caltrain (Millbrae to San Jose Diridon), and the VTA light rail (Diridon to Hamilton or Downtown Campbell). From the Oakland Airport, you would need another combination of BART (Oakland airport to Coliseum Station), the Capitol Corridor light rail (Coliseum Station to San Jose Diridon), and the VTA light rail (Diridon to Hamilton or Downtown Campbell).
